Collisional Kinetic Energy Dissipation In The Suparauroral Ionosphere For Drifting Maxwellians

ABSTRACT:

The coulomb collision transfer rates for momentum and energy exchange between drifting Maxwellians is investigated theoretically. The developed time span and energy exchange or heating rate is numerically solved for plasma parameter relev3nt to the auroral region. It is shown 'that the coulomb collision between the hot precipitating electron beam and the auroral plasma results in an up going electron beam as is observed experimentally. It was ·observe that there is increase in temperature of the hot predipitating electron beams after collision instead of it thermalizing with the background plasma.
