ABSTRACT:

Nitrogen,  phosphorous  and  potassium  in  urea  fertilizer,  poultry  and  “Yarwase”  bird  manure  were determined  by  standard  analytical  methods.  The  response  of  spinach  to  the  three  samples  was  also determined.  It  was  found  that  urea  fertilizer  contained  45.2%  nitrogen,  poultry  35.6%  and  “Yarwase” bird  46.8%.  The  phosphorous  content  in  urea  was  0.02%,  poultry  4.60%  and  “Yarwase”  bird  manure 5.38%.  The  potassium  content  in  urea  fertilizer  was  0.5%,  poultry  1.42%  and  “Yarwase”  bird  manure 1.75%.  It  was  observed  that  spinach  responded  better  to  “Yarwase”  bird  manure  than  poultry  and  urea fertilizer  in  terms  of  yield,  colour  and  size  after  harvest.  This  revealed  that  “Yarwase”  bird  manure  has high  proportion  of  the  micro  –  nutrients  than  in  poultry  manure  and  urea  fertilizer  therefore, recommended for vegetable cultivation.
